Why was this only geared towards a spouse or child? I admit I am overly sensitive, but I have been hurt by friends that I care about.
When I misunderstood them, I asked them. their answer didn’t make me feel better. This is not the place to elaborate because it’s complicated. But what was presented here is a great idea.

I'm guessing they chose those two because it tends to hurt more when it's a close relative. And you live together.

Humbling. So much we don't understand.

It is true: There are way more potential connections in the brain than particles in every planet and every solar system and every galaxy in the known universe. Saving a life and a relationship is like saving an entire universe.

but what if the family shuns you in order to block the many times you've tried to communicate in a positive way? and tells others in the family to shun you the same way they are shunning you?

You can tell her (calmly!) "That felt hurtful to me. Did you mean to hurt me?" See what she answers.
